The Sustainable Aviation Test Environment (SATE) is the UK’s first low-carbon aviation test centre

SATE and its partners show emerging technologies along with real-world potential scenarios, highlighting the environmental, social and economic contribution sustainable aviation can make.

Led by the Highlands and Islands Transport Partnership (HITRANS), SATE brings together a national consortium of industry partners, public sector bodies and academia which work with a range of regional businesses and stakeholders to apply state-of-the-art aviation technology to deliver targeted economic growth.

SATE is part-funded by the UKRI Future Flight Challenge, delivered by Innovate UK and the Economic and Social Research Council.
